Power

in the hands of the people

  • It’s no secret that our elections have been hijacked by corporate interests and dark money. While sitting members of Congress blatantly enrich themselves and AIPAC pours millions of dollars into their sponsored candidates, the President of the United States openly and proudly advertises his next insider-trading scandal. We need change now.

    Our elected officials work for us, not the other way around. We need to:

    • End Citizens United

    • Ban stock trading for Congresspeople and their spouses

    • Cap campaign funding limits

    • Provide campaign fund matching

  • Our campaign finance laws are riddled with loopholes that allow for dark money and foreign influence to both shape our elections and decide how our elected officials will vote. When a candidate is backed by shady PACs, corporate interests, and foreign operatives, that candidate will never stand with the interests of their voters, they will only represent the highest bidder.

    It’s time to close those loopholes and hold our representatives accountable.

  • The rise of such a powerful tool as AI casts a shadow of uncertainty over the working class. As the technology rapidly advances, more and more people find themselves losing their jobs and careers to AI as it threatens entire industries with obsolescence, all while the data centers that house it consume vast amounts of our resources and we foot the bill. If we continue to allow these tech companies to operate without any rules, regulations, or safety protocols, we will continue to see the destruction of our industries, our neighborhoods, and our landscape. We need to:

    • Pause the growth of AI until strict protocols and regulations are in place

    • Halt the construction of new data centers

    • Evaluate the risks, costs, and benefits of AI to assess and implement appropriate regulation

Prosperity

for the working class

  • Owning a home is a cornerstone of the American Dream, but that dream is drifting further out of reach for more American families while rent prices soar to record heights. Homebuyers are increasingly priced out of the market while private equity firms buy up all of the property, only to repackage them as astronomically expensive rentals. This is not sustainable. We need to:

    • Build more affordable housing

    • Protect renters’ rights

    • Build social safety net programs for the unhoused population

    • Prevent large corporate investors from driving up home and rental prices in neighborhoods across our state

  • The American working class is rapidly losing its power and agency as the Trump administration strips away our rights and protections in favor of the corporate elite. Make no mistake- it is the working people, not the billionaires, who make this whole system function.

    With that in mind, we need to:

    • Ensure a livable wage

    • Protect strong labor unions and workers’ rights

    • Guarantee Paid Family Medical Leave

    • Secure fully-funded, high-quality, public education from pre-k through higher education

    • Close tax loopholes that benefit only the wealthiest and allow them to pay less than working people

  • Our current healthcare system is broken. It is profit-driven, treating humans and their health as bottom lines. For too many in this country, it is not providing adequate care/coverage, particularly for those most vulnerable. People work hard and are not compensated with adequate healthcare coverage. 

    In the wealthiest country on the planet, this is unacceptable. Everyone should have access to care. No one should have to declare bankruptcy because of an unexpected medical condition. Single payer universal healthcare is long overdue and we can’t wait any longer to enact Medicare for All. We need:

    • Government-managed single-payer Medicare for all, to address prescription drug prices, dental, hearing, and durable equipment.

    • Investment in evidence-based preventative care such as health education, public health, mental health, addiction treatment, and health equity

Peace

at home, abroad, of mind

  • For too long have we allowed this administration to launch pointless wars, sow chaos overseas, and finance a genocide against the Palestinian people. Instead of putting our taxpayer dollars toward healthcare, infrastructure, or the betterment of our own people, they use our money to drop bombs on schools, churches, and hospitals.

    This violence must come to an immediate end. We need to:

    • End the genocide in Gaza and provide aid to the Palestinian people

    • Institute foreign policy that prioritizes diplomacy, trade, and human well-being over war 

    • Invest at home in healthcare, education, and infrastructure, instead of sending American dollars overseas

  • Immigrants are valuable members of our community. The current approach to immigration is inhumane and our country’s history is mixed and marked by periods of immense brutality. There are practical and thoughtful steps we can take to improve our immigration system. We need to:

    • Abolish ICE and hold those involved accountable

    • Significantly reform the pathway to citizenship

    • Provide protections for refugees

    • Provide resources to help newcomers integrate into our communities successfully

  • Day after day, more rights and protections are being stripped away from those who need them most. Our government is supposed to work for each and every one of us. It’s about time we made that a reality. We need to:

    • Restore and codify necessary protections

    • Dismantle systems that perpetuate oppression, inequity, and suffering

    • Support leaders from, and address the needs of, marginalized communities such as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, neurodiversity and disability, and people of lower income

    • Ensure human rights and dignity for all

  • As vital environmental regulations are stripped away and natural disasters ravage the landscape, the rise of data centers across the country threatens to dwindle our resources, endanger our wildlife, and put an unprecedented strain on our energy infrastructure. Immediate action is necessary. We need to:

    • Invest in renewable energy

    • Research environmental justice from the Public Health perspective

    • Implement the Green New Deal

    • Halt the construction of new data centers and build regulatory framework around their environmental impact
